Beef Liver

6 months and up

⚡ Quick answer

Beef liver is an organ meat rich in iron, vitamin B12, and vitamin A; from 6 months onward it can be given well cooked and pureed in small amounts.

How to serve it by age?

6-8 months

Make a smooth puree of well-cooked liver with a vegetable such as carrot or potato; start with a very small amount.

9-12 months

Give it well mashed or in tiny soft pieces, mixed into vegetable dishes.

12+ months

Offer as well-cooked small bites; limit the portion to once a week.

🫁 Choking risk and safe serving

It is soft when well cooked, but whole pieces can still pose a swallowing risk. Give it as a smooth puree at 6-8 months, and as well-mashed soft pieces afterward, always under supervision.

📌 Watch out for these

  • Because it is very high in vitamin A, do not overdo it; one portion a week (about 20-30 g) is enough.
  • Cook thoroughly without leaving the inside pink; do not give it raw or undercooked.
  • To boost iron absorption, you can serve it together with vegetables or fruits containing vitamin C.
