Egg
6 months and up
⚡ Quick answer
Egg can be given from 6 months, yolk and white together, THOROUGHLY cooked — delaying does not protect against allergy; early and regular introduction is better.
How to serve it by age?
Fully cooked (hard) egg mashed to a puree consistency; can be mixed into vegetable puree or yogurt.
Well-cooked omelet/fritter finger slices — baby can hold and eat them on their own.
Egg dishes from the family table (menemen with little salt, well-cooked fried eggs) can be given.
⚠️ Allergen information
One of the most common infant allergens. Do the first trial with a small amount, early in the day; if hives, vomiting, or lip swelling occur, see a doctor. If there is a family history of egg allergy, consult your pediatrician first.
🫁 Choking risk and safe serving
Solid egg can dry out and become sticky; in the first months, serve it mashed, pureed, or mixed into yogurt.
📌 Watch out for these
- Undercooked/soft-boiled egg should not be given to babies (salmonella risk).
- One egg a day is generally sufficient for this age group.
