Chicken Liver
6 months and up
⚡ Quick answer
Chicken liver is a strong source of iron and vitamin A, but because it is very high in vitamin A it is given after 6 months once a week, in an amount no more than 1 teaspoon, and as a well-cooked puree.
How to serve it by age?
6-8 months
A very small amount (a teaspoon) cooked thoroughly and made into a smooth puree, within vegetable puree.
9-11 months
Once a week as a small-portion mash; can be mixed into other dishes.
12+ months
The amount can increase a little, but the frequency should not exceed 1-2 times a week.
📌 Watch out for these
- Too much liver = too much vitamin A; it can accumulate and cause harm in babies, so follow the amount and frequency rule.
- It must be fresh and fully cooked; because it is an organ meat, freshness is critical.
- Do not choose liver of unknown origin; it is a good idea to consult your pediatrician before starting.
