Omega-3 Supplement

1 year and up

⚡ Quick answer

An omega-3 supplement is not routinely necessary for babies with a balanced diet; it is given only when a doctor considers it appropriate and at the prescribed dose.

How to serve it by age?

12 months+

Only if the doctor recommends it, the determined daily dose in liquid form is given with a spoon/dropper.

With a meal

It is usually given with food to ease digestion.

Follow-up

The dose and duration are reviewed under physician supervision.

⚠️ Allergen information

Fish

🫁 Choking risk and safe serving

The capsule/softgel form poses a choking risk for babies; do not give a whole capsule. Give only the liquid form approved by the doctor, slowly, toward the inside of the cheek while the baby is upright.

📌 Watch out for these

  • Omega-3 derived from fish may contain fish protein; if there is a history of fish allergy, inform the doctor (algae-derived forms may be an alternative).
  • Do not start on your own; use only on a doctor's recommendation and at the prescribed dose.
  • Do not give a whole capsule to a baby (choking risk) and store the bottle out of reach.
