Chicken & Vegetable Lentil Soup – Spoonful of Magic
Made with red lentils, carrots, and chicken, this nourishing soup is a satisfying and delicious main meal option for children aged 2 and up.
Ingredients
- 100 gr red lentils
- 150 gr chicken breast (finely diced)
- 1 medium carrot
- 1/2 medium onion
- 1 small potato
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 750 ml water or unsalted chicken stock
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin (a pinch, optional)
Directions

1) Dice the carrot and potato into small cubes and finely chop the onion.

2) Heat the olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat and sauté the onion for 2–3 minutes until softened.

3) Add the chicken pieces and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring, until white all over.

4) Add the carrot, potato, and rinsed red lentils to the pan, then pour in the water or unsalted chicken stock.

5) Once it comes to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 20–25 minutes until everything is completely tender.

6) Stir in the cumin if using, then blend to a smooth or slightly chunky consistency using a blender.

7) Allow to cool to a comfortable temperature, ladle into your little one's bowl, and serve with a small spoon.
