Baked Cinnamon Plums — A Soft, Naturally Sweet Summer Treat for 2-Year-Olds
Ripe summer plums are pitted and baked with a tiny touch of cinnamon until soft, then a little mashed banana adds natural sweetness for a soft, no-added-sugar summer treat for your 2-year-old. Mashed with a fork, this warm little dessert is a simple, safe way to discover the fruit's own flavour.
Ingredients
- 4-5 pieces Ripe sweet plums (washed, pitted and halved)
- 1/2 piece Ripe banana (for natural sweetness, mashed)
- 1 small pinch Ground cinnamon (a tiny amount, optional)
- 1-2 tablespoons Boiled and cooled drinking water (to prevent sticking while baking)
Directions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Wash the ripe, soft plums thoroughly under running water.
- 2
Halve the plums and remove the pits; make sure not a single pit remains, to avoid any choking risk. Peel them if the skins feel thick.
- 3
Chop the plums into small pieces and spread them in a baking dish. Sprinkle over a tiny amount of cinnamon and drizzle a few drops of the boiled, cooled water.
- 4
Bake at 180°C for 15-20 minutes, until the plums are completely soft and release their juices.
- 5
Let the baked plums cool a little and mash them with a fork; for a sweeter, smoother texture, stir in the mashed ripe banana.
- 6
For a 2-year-old, keep the pieces small and soft; serve warm or slightly cool while your child is seated and supervised. Introduce each new ingredient one at a time, three days apart.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
Thanks to its natural sweetness, ripe plum offers a pleasant taste without added sugar, and its fibre may gently contribute to your child's digestion at this stage. Baking softens the fruit thoroughly, creating a texture that little children can easily mash and swallow. The added ripe banana boosts the natural sweetness and may also contribute potassium and energy to the meal.
