Carbonated Drink
2 years and up
⚡ Quick answer
Carbonated drinks contain high amounts of sugar, acid, and, in some, caffeine; they have no nutritional value, cause tooth decay and loss of appetite, and therefore should not be given to young children.
How to serve it by age?
It has no place in infancy; the only drinks are breast milk/formula and, after 6 months, plain water.
Water, milk, and natural fruits should be preferred over sugary and carbonated drinks.
Regular consumption is not recommended at this age either; if consumed, it should be kept very rare and in small amounts, followed by cleaning the mouth.
📌 Watch out for these
- The high sugar content sets the stage for tooth decay and weight problems.
- The caffeine in cola-type drinks is not suitable for babies and young children.
- Sweet drinks reduce the intake of nutritious foods by creating a feeling of fullness.
