Mineral Water
2 years and up
⚡ Quick answer
Because of its high mineral content (especially sodium) and carbonation, mineral water strains a baby's kidneys and digestion; it is not recommended for young children.
How to serve it by age?
0-6 months
In this period not even water is given; the only fluid is breast milk or formula.
6-12 months
For thirst, plain, low-mineral drinking water in small amounts is sufficient; mineral water is not suitable.
24+ months
Plain water should be preferred over carbonated, high-mineral mineral water; if given, it should be very rarely and in small amounts.
📌 Watch out for these
- The high sodium and mineral load is too much for developing kidneys.
- Carbonation can cause bloating, gas, and abdominal discomfort.
- Quench the baby's thirst with plain drinking water and milk.
