Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1

Wash your hands, the cutting board and the bowl and spoons you will use. Cut the chicken and vegetables into small cubes your child can mash easily.

  2. 2

Warm the olive oil in a wide pan; add the finely grated onion and cook over low heat until soft.

  3. 3

Add the chicken cubes and cook, stirring gently, until the colour turns and the surface looks pale.

  4. 4

Add the carrot and potato cubes; pour in the drinking water, cover and cook over low heat for 12-15 minutes.

  5. 5

Add the courgette and peas and cook for another 8-10 minutes, until all the vegetables and the chicken are soft enough to mash easily with a fork; let the liquid reduce.

  6. 6

If you like, sprinkle over some freshly chopped parsley; leave it in the natural taste of the vegetables and chicken, without added salt.

  7. 7

Bring the plate to a lukewarm temperature you test on the back of your hand and serve in small bites while your child is seated and supervised.

🌱 Why is it nourishing?

Chicken, rich in quality protein and iron, can be a satisfying main-dish option during the active period of two years old. Colourful vegetables such as carrot, courgette and peas offer different vitamins and fibre and can support a balanced plate. Small pieces cooked until tender may gently help develop hand-feeding and chewing skills. Lightly seasoned, this plate leaves room to discover the natural taste of vegetables.
