Homemade Banana-Strawberry Ice Cream — A No-Added-Sugar Cooling Summer Treat for Age 2
Made in just a few minutes from frozen ripe banana and fresh strawberries, this soft homemade ice cream is a refreshing, naturally sweet treat for your 2-year-old on hot summer days. It is made with the fruit's own flavor, without any added sugar, milk, or sweetener.
Ingredients
- 2 pieces ripe banana (peeled, thinly sliced, frozen for at least 3 hours)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries (washed, hulled, cut into small pieces)
- 0.5 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
- 1 tablespoon a few small fresh strawberry pieces for topping
Directions
- 1
Peel and thinly slice the ripe bananas; spread them in a covered container and freeze for at least 3 hours, ideally overnight.
- 2
Wash and hull the strawberries; to reduce choking risk, quarter each one into small pieces.
- 3
Place the frozen banana slices and the strawberries into a food processor or a powerful blender.
- 4
If you like, add a few drops of lemon juice; blend until smooth and soft like soft-serve, scraping down the sides with a spatula as needed.
- 5
If the mixture is too firm, let it rest for 2-3 minutes and blend again; do NOT add water, keeping its natural texture.
- 6
Scoop right away into a small bowl and top with a few small fresh strawberry pieces.
- 7
Serve in a cool spot in small portions, with your child seated and always under your supervision; store any leftovers briefly in a sealed container.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
Ripe banana brings natural sweetness, potassium, and a wonderfully soft texture, while strawberries add vitamin C and fiber along with cheerful color. The frozen texture can feel cooling on hot summer days and may offer a gentle soothing during teething. No added sugar, honey, or milk is used; the sweetness comes entirely from the fruit. Its soft consistency suits 2-year-olds who are learning to eat with a spoon on their own.
