Colourful Summer Fruit Bowl — A Naturally Sweet, Refreshing Treat for 2 Years
A refreshing summer treat where watermelon, melon and seasonal fruits come together in small, soft, age-appropriate pieces, with no sweetener added. From 2 years onward, its natural sweetness, high water content and colours can offer your little one a light, enjoyable option on warm days.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (about 150 g) Watermelon (seeds removed, small soft pieces)
- 1 cup (about 120 g) Melon (small soft pieces)
- 4-5 pieces Strawberries (washed, quartered)
- 1 tablespoon Blueberries or ripe raspberries (halved)
- 2-3 leaves Fresh mint leaves (finely chopped, optional)
- 1 teaspoon Freshly squeezed orange juice (optional)
Directions
- 1
Wash your hands and the bowl and knife you will use thoroughly. Rinse each fruit well one by one under running water.
- 2
Cut the watermelon and melon into small, soft pieces suitable for a 2-year-old that can be mashed easily with a fork; carefully remove the watermelon seeds.
- 3
To reduce the risk of choking, quarter or halve the strawberries and blueberries; do not leave whole, round pieces.
- 4
Gently combine all the fruit in your little one's bowl; if you like, finely chop the fresh mint and scatter it on top.
- 5
For a livelier taste you can drizzle a teaspoon of fresh orange juice over it; no added sugar is needed, as the sweetness comes from the fruit itself.
- 6
Serve the bowl straight away, while fresh; always stay with your little one while they eat and make sure they are seated comfortably.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
Water-rich summer fruits such as watermelon and melon can gently contribute to your little one's fluid intake on warm days. Strawberries and blueberries are colourful options valued for their vitamin C and natural antioxidants. Thanks to the natural sweetness of the fruit, no sweetener is added. The different colours and textures can make discovering a variety of fruits enjoyable at this age.
