Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1

Wash your hands, the blending jug and the cup thoroughly.

  2. 2

Peel and slice the banana; wash the seasonal fruit, removing peel and seeds if needed, and cut it into small pieces.

  3. 3

Soften the oats by soaking them in a little milk for a few minutes; this gives a smoother texture.

  4. 4

Put the banana, fruit, yogurt, softened oats and milk into the blender jug.

  5. 5

Blend well until completely smooth and free of lumps; a lump-free texture is important for safety at 2 years old.

  6. 6

Check the consistency; if you would like it thinner, add a little milk or drinking water at a time.

  7. 7

Serve the smoothie cool or at room temperature rather than ice-cold, in your child's own cup (an open cup or a straw cup), and always stay with them while they drink.

🌱 Why is it nourishing?

Oats are a whole grain valued for their fiber and slow-release energy, and they give the smoothie a filling texture. While ripe banana provides natural sweetness and potassium, plain yogurt can contribute protein and calcium, and seasonal fruit can add vitamin C. This spoonably thick drink can be a practical snack or a light breakfast on busy days.
