Yogurt and Fruit Smoothie for Mothers — A Refreshing, Light and Filling Drink
Made with strained yogurt, strawberries, peach and banana and chilled with a few ice cubes, this smoothie is a light, filling drink that postpartum and breastfeeding mothers can put together quickly on hot summer days. With no added sugar and only the natural sweetness of fruit, it aims to be a balanced, measured snack option.
⚠️ Contains allergens: milk
Ingredients
- 1 cup Strained yogurt
- 1 cup Ripe strawberries
- 1 piece Ripe peach
- 1 piece Small ripe banana
- 2 tablespoons Rolled oats
- 0.5 cup Cold water or a few ice cubes
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon (optional)
Directions
- 1
Wash the strawberries and remove the stems; peel the peach and banana and cut them into large pieces.
- 2
Soak the rolled oats in cold water for a few minutes to soften them (for a smoother texture).
- 3
Put the strained yogurt, strawberries, peach, banana and softened oats into a blender.
- 4
Add the cold water or a few ice cubes and blend until smooth and pourable.
- 5
If you like, sprinkle in the cinnamon and blend once more; add a little more cold water if it is too thick.
- 6
Pour into a tall glass and serve right away, while still cool.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
Strained yogurt offers protein and calcium, while the fiber and slow-release carbohydrates of rolled oats add a filling quality to the drink. Strawberries, peach and banana round out the smoothie with natural sweetness, vitamin C and potassium. Because it is prepared without added sugar, it can be a light, refreshing option instead of a heavy meal on hot days. Measured snacks like this one, based on yogurt and fruit, are among the practical choices that can accompany a balanced eating routine.
Maiyko's note
At Maiyko we value light, filling options that a mother can put together quickly on busy, sleepless days; you can vary this smoothie with the freshest fruits of the season and, if you like, swap the strawberries for apricot or watermelon. You can also make it thicker in a bowl and top it with a few slices of fruit to turn it into a smoothie bowl.
