3-month-old baby not reaching for toys?

For a 3-month-old, not reaching for toys doesn't yet mean a developmental problem. At this age, babies typically start noticing their hands, putting their hands together, and briefly grasping objects, but conscious reaching usually develops around 4-5 months. If your baby can lift their head while on their tummy, turns to sounds, plays with their hands, and follows you, these are all positive signs. To support reaching skills, you can hang a moving toy (like a rotating mobile) at eye level and just out of reach, or place light rattles on baby's wrists or ankles. However, if there's still no reaching attempts by late month 4, or if you notice delays in other developmental areas, I recommend your pediatrician evaluate your baby's overall development.
