• First cut: Instead of an ambitious style, start with just trimming the ends, shortening bangs, and keeping the first experience quick and small, which sets a good foundation for the future.

Pediatric practice views readiness for a first haircut less by age and more by the child's willingness and the parent's comfort. Even if the result is "uneven" or "messy," what's important is that the child experiences this as routine care, not trauma.
