Baby Vaccination Schedule Guide: Which Vaccine Is Given and When?
The national immunization schedule in Turkey: which vaccines are given in which month from birth to age 2, and what to watch for before and after vaccination.
The most important note first
The vaccination schedule is set by the Ministry of Health and is updated from time to time. Your baby's personal schedule is managed BY YOUR FAMILY PHYSICIAN based on their gestational age at birth, health status, and the current national program. This guide is a general roadmap — for exact dates, your family physician and e-Nabız are always the primary sources.
General flow of the national schedule (0-24 months)
The main outline of the national program applied in Turkey for many years is as follows:
- At birth: Hepatitis B (first dose)
- End of month 1: Hepatitis B (2nd dose)
- Month 2: BCG (tuberculosis) + pentavalent combination (DTaP-IPV-Hib) + conjugate pneumococcal (PCV)
- Month 4: pentavalent combination + PCV (2nd doses)
- Month 6: pentavalent combination (3rd dose) + Hepatitis B (3rd dose) + oral polio (OPV)
- Month 12: PCV booster + MMR (measles-rubella-mumps) + varicella (chickenpox)
- Month 18: pentavalent combination booster + oral polio (2nd dose) + Hepatitis A (1st dose)
- Month 24: Hepatitis A (2nd dose)
Preparing for vaccination day
- Bring your vaccination card / e-Nabız record with you
- If your baby is mildly ill (such as a mild cold), the vaccine is usually not postponed — but consult your family physician in case of a febrile illness
- Breastfeeding or skin-to-skin contact during the vaccination measurably reduces the pain
- Comfortable, easy-to-slip-off clothing makes things easier
After vaccination: what is normal and what is not
Mild redness/swelling at the injection site, fussiness, and a low-grade fever can last 1-2 days and are normal. Plenty of breastfeeding/fluids and, if needed, a clean, cool compress on the injection site are enough. Consult your doctor before using a fever reducer.
See a doctor in these cases: a fever approaching 40°C, crying that cannot be soothed for more than 3 hours, seizures, a widespread rash, or an abscess-like swelling growing at the injection site.

No panic: the schedule does not 'reset.' For missed doses, your family physician makes a catch-up plan — it continues from where it left off. What matters is making an appointment as soon as you notice.
