What's good for an 18-month-old baby's nausea?

18-month-old nausea can have many causes — sometimes simple gas, sometimes mild infection or even teething can accompany it. First step is checking if nausea has other signs.

If there's no vomiting, fever, diarrhea, or lethargy, and your baby's general condition is good, you can try:

• Small, frequent feeding: Not giving lots of liquid at once; water or breast milk/formula a few sips, 10-15 minute intervals.
• Not stress the stomach: Avoid fatty, spicy, acidic, or sugary foods. Banana, rice porridge, apple puree like light options work better.
• Upright position: Don't lay them down right after eating; keeping baby upright or at a slight incline can ease the stomach.
• Observe: If no vomiting within 4-6 hours and appetite starts returning, you can return to normal.

When to go to doctor? If vomiting lasts over 24 hours, is bilious (green/yellow), bloody vomit or bloody diarrhea, baby's urine decreases (no diaper change every 6-8 hours), extreme lethargy, or fever over 38°C — these need doctor evaluation.

If none of the above, usually a day of light feeding and rest is enough. But if you can't rest about it, talking to your pediatrician without hesitation is important — your peace of mind matters too.
