1 year old baby excessive sweating?

Excessive sweating around 1 year old is generally not a cause for concern. Because babies' sweat glands haven't fully matured yet, they can't regulate body temperature the way adults do; this is why noticeable sweating on the head and neck during sleep, feeding, or activity is common.

Possible causes:

• Room temperature or overdressing (most common cause)
• Deep sleep during REM periods
• Physical exertion (very typical in newly walking toddlers)

When to consult a child doctor:

• If sweating is especially at night and your baby has cough, wheezing, feeding difficulties
• If fever is present
• If your baby is not gaining weight or growth has plateaued
• If sweat has an unusual smell (sharp, acetone-like)

Suggestion: Keep room temperature between 20-22°C, prefer cotton clothing, avoid overdressing. If sheets or clothes get wet, you can layer a cotton cloth underneath and change it. If night sweating lasts longer than 2 weeks or affects sleep quality, it's worth consulting your pediatrician.
