⚠️ Contains allergens: gluten
Ingredients
- 2 medium Ripe banana (well mashed)
- 1 cup Fine rolled oats
- 1 small Finely grated apple (excess juice gently squeezed out)
- 1 pinch Cinnamon (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Olive oil
Directions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a tray with baking paper.
- 2
In a bowl, mash the ripe banana with a fork until smooth.
- 3
Gently squeeze out the excess juice from the grated apple and add it to the banana.
- 4
Add the oats and, if you like, a pinch of cinnamon to make a soft mixture; let it rest for 5 minutes so the oats soften.
- 5
Using a damp spoon, place small, flat mounds on the tray and gently press them down with a finger to thin them.
- 6
Drizzle a few drops of olive oil on top and bake at 180°C for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are lightly set.
- 7
Once fully cooled, break into small, soft pieces suited to your child's chewing ability and serve under supervision.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
Oats can help add slow-releasing carbohydrates and fibre to your child's snack. Ripe banana can offer natural sweetness and potassium without any added sugar. Grated apple can add moisture and a light fruity aroma.
Maiyko's note
These soft cookies can be a gentle snack your child can hold and eat on their own. Keep the cookies flat and soft, adjust the size to your child's chewing ability, and always serve under supervision.
