Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1

Wash your hands and the bowl and spoons you will use thoroughly. Rinse the apricots well under running water.

  2. 2

Halve the apricots and remove the stones; you may peel the skin for delicate tummies if you like. Break the flesh into small pieces.

  3. 3

Place the apricot pieces in a small pan with the drinking water; once it starts to boil, lower the heat and cook for 8-10 minutes until soft enough to mash easily with a fork.

  4. 4

Take off the heat and let it cool slightly; strain any excess liquid into a separate cup and keep it for adjusting the consistency.

  5. 5

Transfer the softened apricots to a bowl and mash with a fork or blender until you have a smooth purée.

  6. 6

If the texture is thick, add a little of the reserved cooking water or breast milk/formula, a spoon at a time, until soft and flowing.

  7. 7

Let the purée cool until lukewarm; always check the temperature yourself before offering it to your baby.

🌱 Why is it nourishing?

Apricot is a summer fruit rich in vitamin A (beta-carotene), vitamin C, potassium and fibre, and its soft texture suits the complementary feeding stage. Thanks to its natural sweetness, it is prepared with its own flavour, without adding any sweeteners. The fibre it contains can gently support your baby's digestion on warm days. Its smooth texture can be a soft addition to getting used to spoon feeding.
