Banana-Avocado Purée — A Creamy, Naturally Sweet First Recipe for 6+ Months
A velvety, no-cook first recipe made by mashing ripe banana and avocado together with a fork. From 6 months, a gentle start to complementary feeding with natural sweetness and a creamy texture.
Ingredients
- 1/2 piece (about 50 g) Ripe banana
- 1/4 piece (about 30 g) Ripe avocado
- 1-2 tablespoons Breast milk, formula or drinking water (to loosen, optional)
Directions
- 1
Wash your hands and the bowl and fork you will use well. Peel the banana and set aside one piece.
- 2
Halve the avocado, remove the pit; scoop the flesh of one quarter into the bowl with a spoon.
- 3
Mash the banana and avocado together with a fork until smooth and free of lumps.
- 4
If it is too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of breast milk, formula or drinking water to reach a softness your baby can swallow easily.
- 5
Because avocado and banana can brown on contact with air, serve the purée fresh and right away, without letting it sit.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
With its natural sweetness, potassium and easy-to-digest texture, banana is one of the best-loved first tastes in complementary feeding. Avocado, with its healthy fats and creamy texture, can gently support your baby's balanced nutrition. Bringing the two together makes a soft, naturally sweet purée that sits nicely on the spoon. Since it needs no cooking, it is also very quick to prepare.
Maiyko's note
At Maiyko, we value simple, natural steps in complementary feeding. Offer the banana-avocado purée on its own natural taste, without adding any sweetener, spice or extra ingredient; always prepare it fresh and serve without letting it sit. When introducing a new food for the first time, observing your baby for a few days is a good habit. Remember that every baby gets used to new tastes at their own pace.
