Soft little bites baked from grated apple, oats, and a pinch of cinnamon, with no added sugar. A naturally sweet, hand-held snack that's practical for children aged 2 and up.
⚠️ Contains allergens: gluten, egg
Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons Fine rolled oats
- 1 piece (medium) Grated apple
- 1 piece Egg
- 1 pinch Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Olive oil
Directions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a tray with baking paper.
- 2
Wash and peel the apple, grate it finely, and gently drain off the excess juice.
- 3
Beat the egg in a bowl; add the grated apple, oats, cinnamon, and olive oil, and stir together.
- 4
Let the mixture rest for 10 minutes so the oats absorb the moisture and it becomes shapeable.
- 5
With damp hands, form small, soft balls, space them out on the tray, and press the tops down lightly.
- 6
Bake at 180°C for 15-18 minutes, until lightly golden on top.
- 7
Let the bites cool; for a 2-year-old, break them into small pieces, check the temperature, and stay with your child throughout the meal.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
Oats offer slow-release energy and fibre for children aged 2 and up, while grated apple adds natural sweetness, vitamin C, and moisture. Lightly sweetened with a pinch of cinnamon, these bites have a soft texture with no added sugar. Their small, hand-held size can make them a practical between-meal snack that gently supports self-feeding.
Maiyko's note
In the Maiyko kitchen we love the natural flavours of the season; made with autumn apples, these bites are a soft snack your little one can explore with their fingers. To reduce the risk of choking, bake the bites until well softened, break them into small pieces, check the temperature, and stay with your child throughout the meal.
