Made with fine baby rice, this light soup offers a tender start for little ones beginning solids; its smooth texture and natural flavour warmly fill tiny tummies.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons baby rice (finely ground)
- 1.5 cups water
- 2-3 tablespoons breast milk or infant formula (liquid)
- 1 small slice carrot (grated, optional)
Directions
- 1
Gently rinse the baby rice in a fine sieve until the water runs clear.
- 2
Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan.
- 3
Slowly add the baby rice while stirring continuously to prevent clumping.
- 4
If you like, add the very finely grated carrot; simmer on low for 12-15 minutes until the grains are tender.
- 5
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
- 6
Mash or use a hand blender until you reach a perfectly smooth consistency.
- 7
Stir in breast milk or formula to adjust the consistency to your baby's preference.
- 8
Always check the serving temperature on your wrist and offer it warm, never hot.
