Do both twins get colic?

Colic is not more common in twins than in single babies, but when both babies have crises at the same time, it's a much more challenging experience for parents. The most important thing is to keep both babies safe while not exhausting yourself.

Here are some practical tips for managing gas and colic in twins:

After feeding: Find a position where you can hold both babies upright at the same time (for example, one on your shoulder and the other in a bouncer or tilted position). Keeping them upright for 5-10 minutes this way helps with gas.

Taking turns: When one baby is crying, you can care for them while the other stays in a safe, gently bouncing spot like a swing or bassinet. You don't have to attend to both at once—alternating, you still meet each one's needs to some degree.

Routine and environment: Dim lighting and calm surroundings at evening time, along with a soothing routine started at the same time for both (like holding both and gently swaying), can reduce the intensity of colic episodes. Shushing sounds and back rubbing can be used on both babies at once.

Protect yourself: Your own exhaustion and stress matter—ask someone you trust to help for a few hours. It's impossible to handle two babies at once, so don't think you "should" do it alone.

According to pediatric data, colic usually resolves by around 3-4 months. If crying is very intense, babies aren't gaining weight, or other symptoms appear, consult your pediatrician.
