4-month-old baby wants to walk?

A 4-month-old baby doesn't physically want to walk because their nervous system and muscles aren't ready for it yet. However, at this age, babies can kick their legs forcefully when lying on their backs, and when you place their feet on the ground, they may respond with a reflex kicking and pushing motion. This is the walking reflex and is seen between 2-5 months; it's not your baby's conscious desire to walk, but an inborn reflex response. Parents may interpret this movement as "wanting to walk"; actually, the baby is exercising their leg muscles and preparing for future crawling and walking.

During this period, holding your baby upright with support for short periods — no more than a few minutes — can be a fun game for them to experience their leg muscles, but don't force it. Real walking usually starts between 9-18 months. To support your baby's gross motor development, plenty of tummy time and a flat surface where they can move their legs freely is sufficient.
