Reasons for vomiting in an 11-month-old?

Vomiting in 11-month-olds can stem from several different causes. The most common cause is viral infection (stomach bug, gastroenteritis), usually accompanied by fever, diarrhea, or restlessness. Another common cause is motion sickness, especially when traveling (car, stroller). Sometimes your baby ate too quickly, coughed, or cried; single-episode vomiting in these cases is normal.

Less commonly, repeated or projectile vomiting can indicate reflux, food allergy, or structural issues like pyloric stenosis. If your baby has fever, rash, bloody vomit, lethargy, or hasn't wet a diaper for more than 6 hours, these are red flags requiring same-day pediatric evaluation. General rule: if vomiting lasts more than 24 hours, your baby can't keep fluids down, or empties their stomach with each episode, consult your pediatrician.
