Zucchini Purée — A Light, Velvety First Recipe for 6+ Months in Summer
With its mild taste and high water content, summer zucchini is a gentle start to your baby's solid-food journey on hot days. A silky purée for 6 months and up, made with only simple, natural ingredients.
Ingredients
- 150 g zucchini (fresh, peeled and finely chopped)
- 50 ml filtered drinking water (for consistency)
- 2 drops olive oil (optional)
Directions
- 1
Wash the zucchini well and peel the thin skin; remove any large seeds and chop into small cubes.
- 2
Steam or cook in a little water for 8-10 minutes, until soft enough to mash easily with a fork.
- 3
Drain, reserving some of the cooking water for consistency.
- 4
Mash or blend the zucchini until smooth, gradually adding the reserved water as needed.
- 5
Once lukewarm, stir in a drop or two of olive oil if you like.
- 6
Check the temperature yourself with a spoon before serving; offer it at room or body temperature.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
Summer zucchini is a light, easily digestible vegetable; its high water content can help keep your baby cool on hot days. Its soft texture and neutral flavour offer a gentle transition to solids from 6 months. Nutrients such as vitamin C and potassium may support overall development.
Maiyko's note
At Maiyko, we value simplicity and naturalness on your baby's plate; when possible, choose fresh, tender zucchini in season. Choosing GOTS-certified organic cotton for the feeding bibs that touch sensitive skin is part of the same care.
