Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1

Wash the apple well; peel it, remove the core, and chop into small cubes.

  2. 2

Steam the apple pieces for 8-10 minutes, until soft enough to mash easily with a fork.

  3. 3

Transfer the softened apple to a bowl and mash thoroughly with a fork, or blend for a fully smooth texture.

  4. 4

If needed, add the boiled, cooled water a little at a time to reach the flowing consistency your baby enjoys.

  5. 5

Check the purée and make sure no skin or fibrous bits remain, so that spoon-feeding is easy.

  6. 6

Serve warm, close to body temperature. Remember to introduce each new fruit on its own, three days apart.

🌱 Why is it nourishing?

Apple is a light, gentle fruit rich in vitamin C, potassium, and soluble fiber (pectin). Its fiber may softly contribute to digestive regularity in babies, and its natural sweetness makes it a well-loved first taste without any added sweeteners. Steamed and smoothly mashed, it creates a silky, easy-to-swallow texture for babies new to spoon-feeding. Introduced on its own, it lets your baby gently meet a new taste and aroma.

Maiyko's note

At Maiyko, we care about simplicity in your baby's first tastes and about natural ingredients; whenever possible, choose ripe, sweet, ideally organic apples, and if the texture feels thick you can thin it with a little warm water. Choosing GOTS-certified organic cotton for the feeding bibs that touch sensitive skin is part of that same care.
