Refreshing Melon Purée — A Juicy, Gentle Summer Taste for 7+ Months
A smooth, no-cook melon purée for babies 7 months and up, served lightly chilled on hot summer days: a simple, natural and practical seasonal recipe.
Ingredients
- 200 g ripe melon (peeled, seeds removed)
Directions
- 1
Wash the melon thoroughly under plenty of water; peel it and remove the seedy core completely.
- 2
Cut small cubes from the ripe, soft flesh.
- 3
Blend the cubes until completely smooth; the melon should be thoroughly mashed into a flowing texture.
- 4
Pass the purée through a fine sieve so no fibrous bits remain.
- 5
Rest the purée in a covered container in the fridge for 20-30 minutes; take it out a few minutes before serving. Aim for fridge-cool and lightly refreshing — never ice-cold.
- 6
Offer 1-2 teaspoons at the first try and observe for 3 days without introducing any other new food.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
With its high water content and as a source of vitamin C and potassium, melon may support your baby's fluid intake and nutrition during summer. Its soft texture makes it easy to purée smoothly in the first-foods stage. Its natural aroma can be a gentle step in your little one's journey of discovering new flavours.
