Pumpkin Purée — A Soft, Naturally Sweet Autumn Vegetable for 6+ Months
A soft, naturally sweet pumpkin purée for babies who have turned 6 months. Made with pumpkin alone and free of additives; a gentle introduction to solids with this nourishing autumn vegetable.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Pumpkin (peeled, seeds removed, diced)
- 2-3 tablespoons Drinking water (for consistency)
- 1-2 tablespoons Breast milk or formula (optional, to loosen the texture)
Directions

Wash the pumpkin; peel it, remove the seeds, and cut it into small cubes.
- 2
Steam the cubes or cook them in a little water until soft enough to mash easily with a fork (about 10 minutes).
- 3
Drain the cooked pumpkin and let it cool slightly.
- 4
Mash with a fork or blender until you reach a smooth consistency.
- 5
Loosen with a little drinking water, breast milk, or formula to match the texture your baby is used to.
- 6
Once lukewarm (never hot), serve in small spoonfuls.
- 7
If offering it for the first time, introduce it on its own for 3 days and observe your baby's reactions.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
Pumpkin is an easy-to-digest vegetable rich in fiber and beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A. Its natural sweetness may help your baby warm up to new flavors. Its soft texture makes it a gentle choice for 6-month-olds just starting solids.
