Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1

Wash your hands and all bowls and utensils thoroughly.

  2. 2

Rinse the peas in a colander under cold water; if using fresh peas, shell them.

  3. 3

Steam the peas, or cook in a little water, until soft enough to mash easily with a fork (about 8-10 minutes).

  4. 4

Optionally, for a smoother texture and easier digestion, gently press the cooked peas to remove the outer skins.

  5. 5

Transfer the peas to a bowl and mash until smooth with a fork or blender.

  6. 6

Add breast milk, formula, or warm boiled water a little at a time until you reach the flowing consistency your baby likes.

  7. 7

Check the temperature on your own wrist before serving; 1-2 spoonfuls are enough for a first taste.

🌱 Why is it nourishing?

Peas, with their soft texture and mild sweetness, are a gentle option for babies just starting solids. They provide plant protein, fiber, vitamin C, and folate; their smooth consistency is easy for little ones meeting the spoon to accept. Their vivid green color can help add variety and color to your baby's table.
