Mango Purée — A Silky, Naturally Sweet First Summer Recipe for 7+ Months
Made by blending well-ripened mango until smooth, this purée brings a silky, juicy and naturally sweet option to your baby's summer table from 7 months. It is made with the gentle taste of ripe mango alone, with no extra ingredients added.
Ingredients
- 1 piece well-ripened mango (peeled, pit removed)
- 2 tablespoon boiled and cooled drinking water (for consistency)
Directions
- 1
Wash the mango well; peel it carefully with a thin knife.
- 2
Cut the flesh away from around the pit; fully separate the fibrous parts and the pit.
- 3
Transfer the mango pieces to a bowl and mash thoroughly with a fork, or blend until completely smooth.
- 4
For very young babies, or if you prefer easier digestion, you can gently steam the mango pieces for 3-4 minutes before mashing.
- 5
If the consistency feels thick, add a little boiled and cooled water at a time until it is smooth and easy to take from a spoon.
- 6
Check the purée and make sure no large fibres or pieces remain; serve fresh, close to room temperature. Remember to introduce a new fruit on its own with 3 days between each new food.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
Ripe mango is a naturally sweet summer fruit rich in beta-carotene (a precursor of vitamin A), vitamin C and soluble fibre. The beta-carotene it contains can gently support vision and immune health, while its vitamin C can gently support the absorption of plant-based iron; the soluble fibre can softly support digestion in babies. Blended smooth, it creates a silky, easy-to-swallow texture, and its natural sweetness offers an inviting first taste for babies just moving on to spoon-feeding. Introduced on its own, it lets your baby meet a new taste and texture gently.
Maiyko's note
At Maiyko, we care about simplicity and natural ingredients in your baby's first tastes; where you can, choose well-ripened, fibre-free and ideally organic mangoes, and if the purée feels thick, thin it with a little warm water. Choosing GOTS-certified organic cotton for the feeding bibs that touch sensitive skin is part of that same care.
