Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1

Wash the fresh green beans thoroughly under plenty of water; trim the ends and remove any side strings.

  2. 2

Cut the beans into small pieces so they soften faster and more evenly.

  3. 3

Steam the pieces for about 12-15 minutes, until soft enough to mash easily with a fork.

  4. 4

Blend the softened beans, adding the boiled, cooled water a little at a time until you reach a smooth consistency.

  5. 5

Pass the purée through a fine sieve to remove the fibrous bits, creating a silky texture for little ones new to spoon-feeding.

  6. 6

If you like, stir in a few drops of extra-virgin olive oil. Serve a small portion warm, close to body temperature; remember to introduce each new vegetable on its own, three days apart.

🌱 Why is it nourishing?

Fresh green beans are a gentle summer vegetable rich in folate, vitamin K, and fiber, and they can add green variety to your baby's nutrition during this period. Their fiber may gently support digestive regularity, while their mild, soft flavor is a lovely option for little ones meeting the spoon for the first time. Prepared by straining, their smooth texture makes swallowing easier, and offered on its own it lets your baby gently discover a new taste and color.

Maiyko's note

At Maiyko, we value simplicity and natural ingredients in your baby's first tastes; when possible, choose fresh, tender, organic green beans, and if the consistency feels thick you can thin it with a little warm boiled water. Choosing GOTS-certified organic cotton for the bibs that touch sensitive skin is part of the same care.
