Cherry Purée — A Refreshing, Naturally Sweet First Recipe for 7+ Months
Ripe sweet cherries are pitted, briefly steamed until soft and smoothly mashed to offer your baby a refreshing, naturally sweet summer purée from 7 months. With the skins strained out, this purée is a soft start for discovering new fruit flavours with a spoon.
Ingredients
- 10-12 pieces Ripe sweet cherries (washed, stemmed and pitted)
- 1-2 tablespoons Boiled and cooled drinking water (for consistency)
Directions
- 1
Choose dark, ripe and soft sweet cherries. Wash them thoroughly under running water.
- 2
Remove the stems and carefully take out the pit from each cherry; make sure not a single pit remains, to avoid any choking risk.
- 3
Place the pitted cherries in a steamer basket and steam for 5-7 minutes, until soft enough to mash easily with a fork.
- 4
Transfer the cooked cherries to a bowl and blend until smooth; for a velvety texture, pass the purée through a fine sieve to separate the skins.
- 5
Add the boiled, cooled water little by little to reach the flowing consistency your baby enjoys.
- 6
Serve the purée lukewarm or slightly cool; check the temperature on your wrist before offering it. Introduce each new ingredient one at a time, three days apart.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
Thanks to its natural sweetness, cherry offers a pleasant fruit taste and can bring a refreshing, soft new texture to your baby's table at this stage. Its vitamin C and water content may support a balanced diet on hot summer days. When well softened, smoothly mashed and strained, it creates an easy-to-swallow consistency for babies just starting spoon feeding.
