Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1

Wash your hands and the bowl and spoons you will use. Rinse the cauliflower under running water and separate it into small florets.

  2. 2

Place the florets in a steamer basket, or in a pot with a little water; steam over low heat for 12-15 minutes, until they mash easily with a fork.

  3. 3

Drain the cooked cauliflower, setting aside some of the steaming water to adjust the consistency.

  4. 4

Transfer the cauliflower to a bowl and mash with a fork or blend until smooth; add a little of the reserved steaming water as needed for a soft, flowing texture.

  5. 5

If you like, stir in a few drops of extra virgin olive oil; do not add any sweeteners or seasoning.

  6. 6

Bring the purée to a lukewarm temperature you test on the back of your hand and serve fresh while your baby is seated and supervised.

🌱 Why is it nourishing?

Cauliflower is a light, easy-to-digest vegetable rich in vitamin C and fibre, which can make it a gentle option for babies newly starting solids. Blended smooth, it offers a soft texture and can support getting used to different vegetable flavours. Its plain preparation gives your baby room to discover the natural taste of vegetables. A few drops of olive oil may contribute to the intake of fat-soluble nutrients.
