Cauliflower Purée — A Soft, Light First Recipe for 8+ Months
A simple, light cauliflower purée steamed and blended smooth for babies 8 months and up: natural, velvety and gentle for the first-foods stage.
Ingredients
- 150 g cauliflower (fresh, separated into florets)
- 50 ml filtered drinking water (to adjust texture)
- 3 drops olive oil (optional)
Directions
- 1
Wash the cauliflower under plenty of water and separate it into small florets.
- 2
Steam the florets for about 12-15 minutes, until soft enough to mash easily with a fork.
- 3
Set aside a few spoonfuls of the cooking water; you will use it to adjust the texture.
- 4
Blend the softened cauliflower with a little drinking water until completely smooth. If you like, you can add 2-3 drops of olive oil.
- 5
For a silkier texture, pass the purée through a fine sieve; make sure it is lukewarm before serving.
- 6
Offer 1-2 teaspoons at the first try and observe for 3 days without introducing any other new food.
🌱 Why is it nourishing?
With its vitamin C, vitamin K and fibre, cauliflower can add gentle variety to your baby's first-foods stage. When thoroughly steamed, its soft texture turns easily into a smooth purée and stays light for little palates. Its mild taste can be a lovely start to your little one's journey of meeting new vegetables.
