Almond Oat Porridge – Morning Fuel to Support Milk Supply
Made with oats and almonds, both traditionally known for their milk-boosting properties, this warm, one-pot porridge is a quick and nourishing breakfast to help breastfeeding mums start the day with energy and support their milk production.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats (whole grain)
- 1.5 cups milk (whole or plant-based)
- 0.5 cup water
- 2 tablespoons almonds (thinly sliced)
- 1 tablespoon tahini
- 0.5 teaspoon nigella seeds
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- 5-6 fresh strawberries (seasonal)
- 1 teaspoon raw honey or date syrup (optional)
Directions

1) Pour the milk and water into a small saucepan and warm over medium heat. Once it begins to simmer, stir in the oats.

2) Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring continuously, until the oats are thick and creamy and have absorbed most of the liquid.

3) Remove from the heat and stir in the cinnamon and nigella seeds until well combined.

4) Spoon the porridge into a serving bowl, drizzle over the tahini, and scatter the sliced almonds on top.

5) Halve the fresh strawberries and arrange them over the porridge. Add a teaspoon of honey or date syrup if you'd like a touch of sweetness.

6) Serve warm. It's easy to eat one-handed — perfect for enjoying on the sofa or while using a nursing pillow.

7) Storage tip: Once cooled, store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 1 day. To reheat, add a splash of milk and warm gently before serving.
